'Peddi' is not just a sports film. It is a village screaming to be seen. These five films speak the same language, same hunger, different ground.

He called it a proud moment for the film fraternity and said leaving behind stardom and personal success to pursue public service requires immense conviction and commitment.
He also thanked the people of Tamil Nadu for their continued affection and support for his films and extended his best wishes to the state.
This was not the first time Charan congratulated the actor. He had earlier taken to X and written: “Hearty congratulations to Vijay Garu on a remarkable victory in the Tamil Nadu elections. Your vision and connect with the people have truly resonated. Wishing you great success in leading Tamil Nadu towards continued progress.”
Vijay debuted as a child actor in ‘Vetri’ (1984) and as a full-fledged hero in ‘Naalaiya Theerpu’ (1992), both directed by his father, renowned filmmaker SA Chandrasekhar. He has bagged several prestigious awards in a career spanning over 40 years, including the Best International Actor Award from the United Kingdom for Mersal in 2018.
He entered politics after launching his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in February 2024, but continued acting in the blockbuster hit ‘The Greatest of All Time’ (GOAT), which was released the same year. The actor decided to trade his stardom for full-time politics after completing his 69th and widely believed to be final film, ‘Jana Nayagan’.
At his party’s first public rally in October 2024, Vijay told thousands of supporters: “I’m throwing away the peak of my career and my salary. I’m here as your Vijay with a trust in all of you.”
TVK contested the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and emerged as the single largest party, winning 108 out of 234 seats. The result established TVK’s credentials as an alternative to the state’s two historically dominant parties, the DMK and the AIADMK.
Vijay ran for office from two constituencies, Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East, and won both. To reach the majority mark of 118 seats, TVK allied with the Indian National Congress and other parties.
Vijay was sworn in as Tamil Nadu’s ninth Chief Minister on May 10, 2026. He made history by becoming the first Chief Minister from non-Dravidian party since 1960s.
‘Peddi’ is a pan-India sports drama by Buchi Babu Sana, starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead. Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu Sharma, Boman Irani play pivotal roles in the film. The film is ready for worldwide theatrical release on June 4, 2026.
